Assistant/Associate Medical Surgical Nursing Faculty
Widener University School of Nursing seeks a faculty member for a full-time, tenure-track or clinical track, 10-month position on the Chester, PA campus, beginning fall semester of 2020. The School of Nursing’s unique, powerhouse programs serve the needs of nurses at all stages of their career. Bachelors, masters and doctoral programs (DNP and PhD) are offered online and/or in person at our Main Campus in Chester, PA and in Harrisburg, PA. Experiential learning, rigorous academics, and civic engagement are the hallmarks of the SON programs. The SON is designated as an NLN Center of Nursing Excellence for Advancing the Science of Nursing Education. Students and faculty have opportunities to learn and practice in the Widener Community Nursing Clinic.
Responsibilities: The incumbent will primarily teach in the undergraduate accelerated program, with an emphasis on medical surgical nursing, pathophysiology and pharmacology and related areas with the opportunity to teach across programs. Faculty will engage in clinical practice/scholarship, participate in the shared governance system of the School of Nursing and University, and mentor students across programs,
Qualifications: Required qualifications include an earned doctorate (research or practice) in nursing or related field; a master’s degree in nursing, licensure as a registered nurse in the United States, and eligibility for licensure in Pennsylvania; a minimum of three years of clinical experience in a medical-surgical nursing environment.
Preferred qualifications include evidence of three (3) years of teaching at the BSN level and evidence of a program of research/scholarship.
Appointment to a tenure-earning line requires a research doctorate.
