Widener University is seeking a part-time Assistant Field Hockey Coach to support many aspects of the field hockey program, including, but not limited to, assisting in practice and game day development, recruiting at off-site events in compliance with NCAA Division III rules and regulations, monitoring academic progress, travel arrangements, on and off-site clinic instruction, game day and practice film breakdown/transfer, fundraising, and equipment needs.
A successful candidate for this part-time position of Assistant Field Hockey Coach will support many aspects of the field hockey program, including, but not limited to, assisting in practice and game day development, recruiting at off-site events in compliance with NCAA Division III rules and regulations, monitoring academic progress, travel arrangements, on and off-site clinic instruction, game day and practice film breakdown/transfer, fundraising, and equipment needs.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: (include but are not limited to)
Essential Duties:
- Assisting in practice and game day development
- Recruiting at off-site events in compliance with NCAA Division III rules and regulations
- Monitor academic progress, travel arrangements, on and off-site clinic instruction, game day and practice film breakdown/transfer, fundraising, and equipment needs
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: (Education/Training and Experience Required):
- Bachelor’s degree
- NCAA collegiate playing experience
- Prior coaching experience (camps/clinics, club high school, collegiate level)
- Valid driver’s license
- Strong interpersonal communication and basic computer skills
Preferred:
- Collegiate coaching and recruiting experience (Division I, II, III)
- Understanding of databases such as: CoachPacket, FrontRush, TeamXStream, and social media packets such as: Facebook, Twitter, Instagram
- Strong background in athletic fundraising
- USAFH coaching accreditation
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND/OR UNUSUAL HOURS:
- Ability to perform field hockey demonstration strategies to desired level
- Weekends and late night hours are required. Summer availability preferred (Regular season is mid August-mid November. Spring season is late March-late April).
- Long distance travel for prospective student-athlete recruitment
- Potential campus vehicle driving to off-site practices and competitions
