Widener University’s School of Nursing seeks a full-time Academic Secretary for our Harrisburg Campus. This role is the sole support for the Assistant Dean and Campus Coordinator, and will often be required to work independently.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: (include but are not limited to)
Create and maintain both academic and clinical files for students
Collaborates and communicates with staff and administration to assist with scheduling courses, classrooms and activities
Working with limited supervision, must be willing to take initiative, be a problem solver, and willing to offer suggestions and ideas to insure the smooth and efficient operation of the unit
Answer telephone, take messages, screen calls and reply to questions in accordance with general instructions and office procedures and policies; transmit instructions and/or information to and from staff and faculty members
Faxing and photocopying, prepare mailings and online correspondence
Maintain multiple databases in Excel
Strong interpersonal communication skills required; ability to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing with varied constituent groups
Works collaboratively with the Dean's office in the School of Nursing on main campus
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: (Education/Training and Experience Required):
Minimum 3 years secretarial-related experience
Expertise in Microsoft Office 365 including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
Demonstrated knowledge working with database software
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Experience with Datatel/Colleague.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND/OR UNUSUAL HOURS:
Must be able to routinely sit at desk or table and work on computer for long periods of time (2+ hours), have basic manual dexterity and lift less than 25 lbs. Involves routine standing, walking, and climbing stairs and occasional bending, stooping and/or kneeling.
