Widener University is currently seeking a Digital Content Manager to join the University Relations team in the Office of University Advancement. This position is responsible for supporting the creation and maintenance of content on the university’s Main Campus website. This role reports to the Director of Digital Communications and provides support to departments and offices campus-wide.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: (include but are not limited to)

 Essential Duties:

  • Support maintenance of the university’s Main Campus website (www.widener.edu) to ensure content remains up-to-date and accurate
  • Partner with vendors, communications team, and campus partners to manage strategic production of digital content to align with brand messaging, quality assurance, and best practices
  • Write, proofread, and edit web content
  • Produce or manage the production of imagery, video, and other media types
  • Train and oversee campus-wide departmental web editors and content approvers on the use of the content management system and university web style and brand guidelines; develop training materials and documentation to support campus teams in maintaining their web pages
  • Leverage quality assurance and analytics tools (e.g., SiteImprove, Google Analytics) to identify issues with site content or performance, present opportunities, support decision-making, and measure success
  • Ensure consistency through compliance with web style, content, and branding guidelines
  • Responsible for posting emergency crisis information on the web
  • Supervise student worker

Other Responsibilities:

  • Take and edit photos for print, web, and social media as needed
  • Ability to assist with video content from project concept to final delivery
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned or directed

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: (Education/Training and Experience Required):

  • Bachelor's degree 
  • One to three years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of skills, abilities, education, and experience
  • Experience maintaining and developing content for a large-scale website; knowledge of web content management systems and proficiency with Microsoft Office
  • Knowledge of photo and video editing software such as Adobe Photoshop, Premiere, and After Effects
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including superior command of the English language, grammar, and spelling
  • Superior interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to interact effectively
  • Must be organized, flexible, and able to handle several tasks simultaneously and independently.

Preferred:

  • Comfortable and confident conducting trainings and presentations and developing training materials
  • Knowledge of digital marketing, analytics and/or ability to learn
  • Experience using Drupal 
  • Familiarity with social media platforms
  • Eye for design and always on the lookout for the perfect shot

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND/OR UNUSUAL HOURS: 

  • Must be able to routinely sit at desk or table and work on computer for long periods of time (2+ hours), have basic manual dexterity, lift less than 25 lbs., and be mobile between workstation and numerous campus buildings.  Involves routine standing, walking, and climbing stairs and occasional bending, stooping and/or kneeling.

Additional Information

  • Duties are complex and varied. Moderate analytical and research ability is usual. The incumbent is expected to identify problems and determine the standard solution to be utilized. A supervisor is available for highly unusual questions or decisions.
  • Occasionally handles confidential information.
  • Responsible for own work; may assist in training new employees or in answering questions directly related to position function
  • Position requires in-depth knowledge of future work and projects requiring complex planning, usually months in advance.
  • Regular contact outside the department/University involving moderately technical and complex matters.
  • Position should maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, and establishing professional and personal networks.
