Widener University is currently seeking a Clinical Placement Manager in the School of Nursing. This role reports to the Associate Dean of Graduate Nursing and provides support to the Graduate Nursing Program by coordinating student clinical placements. This is a one year, full-time, grant-funded position with the possibility of a full-time schedule in the future.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (including, but not limited to):

Essential duties:

  • Coordinate with Program Directors, course faculty, and Graduate Academic Secretary to determine the number of clinical placements needed each semester by type and level
  • Coordinate and route student requests to appropriate faculty for vetting and approval using clinical placement request system.
  • Establish communication between the WUSON and placement coordinators at potential affiliated clinical education sites to expand clinical education opportunities for students that demonstrate characteristics of sound patient/client management, ethical and professional conduct, and contemporary nursing practice
  • Identify site-specific requirements at each location (i.e., orientation, EHR training) and communicate these requirements to course faculty/students.
  • Confirm placements with placement coordinators at each site through timely, follow-up communications
  • Communicate confirmed or changed placements with Program Directors and course faculty
  • Update/inform faculty about new affiliated clinical education sites policies and procedures
  • Maintain a database of site evaluations (faculty, student) and preceptor demographics and qualifications
  • Facilitate the Clinical evaluation process among students, clinical faculty, and preceptors
  • Audit clinical management systems reports to assure students are appropriately logging hours
  • Audit clinical reports to assure students are achieving necessary specialty hours
  • Manage the student reports at end of each semester
  • Collaborate with the Graduate Academic Secretary and the Harrisburg Academic Secretary to assure clearances for clinical rotations
  • Communicate clearly to students their clearances and readiness for clinical
  • Facilitate orientation for MSN and DNP students to Clinical Management Systems
  • Facilitate communication to preceptors regarding assigned students.
  • Prepare reports as needed for monitoring student activity at clinical sites.
  • Interacts with co-workers, visitors, and other staff consistent with the values of Widener
  • Vet clinical sites through an in-person or virtual visit

Secondary responsibilities:

  • Willingness to assist with other duties related to assuring excellent clinical experiences

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (education/training and experience required):

 Required:

  • Master of Science with major in Nursing
  • Licensure as a registered nurse in Pennsylvania or eligibility for licensure in PA
  • Minimum three years of nursing practice experience
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrable flexibility and ability to prioritize competing demands
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Proven ability to work effectively with diverse groups of constituents including healthcare administrators, faculty, preceptors, and students.
  • Ability to be self-directed, willing to work as a team member, and willing to learn various clinical placement platforms.
  • Valid Driver’s License

Preferred:

  • Previous experience in clinical placement; teaching experience

  • Demanding beginning and end of semester responsibilities
