Widener University is currently seeking a Lab Engineer in the School of Engineering. This role reports to the Dean, and supports instructional, outreach, research and administrative projects.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (including, but not limited to) :
Coordinate and manage the acquisition, installation and troubleshooting of engineering software with the Instructional Technology Services staff.
Set-up and troubleshoot data acquisition systems and equipment-computer interfaces.
Support departments in their preparation for accreditation.
Manage and operate prototyping equipment such as 3D printers and CNC machines.
Implement and manage testing protocols with minimum supervision.
Handle multiple tasks simultaneously and meet deadlines.
Use specialized software packages such as C++, LabVIEW, MATLAB, and VBA.
Exercise strong organizational and time management skills.
Exhibit excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
Program Microsoft Office applications for business processes.
Manage and support the robotics engineering labs; support introductory freshmen labs.
Support senior projects.
Other duties as assigned by the dean.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (education/training and experience required):
Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related scientific discipline with at least four years of relevant experience.
Able to operate and maintain equipment across multiple engineering disciplines.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks on deadline.
Effective verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel and Power Point).
Ability to interact with a diverse population of students, faculty, and staff.
Master's degree in Engineering or related scientific discipline with two years of relevant experience.
Previous experience in engineering or science laboratories.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND/OR UNUSUAL HOURS:
Must be able to routinely sit at desk or table and work on computer, have basic manual dexterity, lift less than 25 lbs., and be mobile between workstation and other campus buildings. Involves routine standing, walking, and climbing stairs and occasional bending, stooping and/or kneeling.
