Widener University is currently seeking a Program Coordinator in the Center for Civic and Global Engagement. This role reports to Executive Director for the Center for Civic and Global Engagement and supports all initiatives related to service and civic engagement.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (including, but not limited to):

Essential duties:

  • Provide administrative support for short and long term service opportunities, civic scholarship programs, campus-wide events, and student training.
  • Maintain records of civic engagement and service activities for student scholar programs.
  • Manage and maintain documentation related to the service hours of the students participating in the three student scholar programs.
  • Conduct regular meetings with the students participating in the three student scholar programs to facilitate training coordinate service opportunities and assist students in fulfilling established service requirements.
  • In partnership with the Assistant Director for Civic Engagement, organize and support the scholarship recruitment, interview and campus visit activities for all student scholar programs. 
  • Assist in the process for distribution of scholarship funds annually to scholarship recipients.
  • Serve as a secondary liaison with the Bonner Foundation. 
  • Coordinate the selection, orientation and ongoing training of the Pride Service Site Leader Program for the students who run local community service programs providing high-level professional quality experiences for selected students and community partners.
  • Serve as advocate to support the University and division’s strategic diversity initiatives to create a welcoming campus for all students.

Secondary responsibilities:

  • Maintain an update civic engagement partner contact list.
  • Attend national and local scholar programming and civic engagement partner meetings as needed.
  • Provide cross-departmental support to CCGE operations including International Student Services, Study Abroad and Student Exchange, and Global Engagement.
  • Complete other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (education/training and experience required):

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree and one year of related experience.
  • Experience participating in or supporting student scholar programming around the topic of civic engagement and/or other related service activities.
  • Cultural awareness and competency demonstrated by working with individuals of diverse identities such as socioeconomic level, sexual orientation, race, ethnicity and veterans including those with different levels of academic preparation, varying physical and learning abilities.
  • A demonstrated commitment to educating and cultivating global citizens. 
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office, publishing, website content management and social media software.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND/OR UNUSUAL HOURS: 

  • Ability to travel 
  • Ability to attend work related conferences as needed
  • Ability to work nights and weekends as needed
