Widener University is currently seeking a Program Coordinator in the Dean of Students Office. This role reports to the Dean of Students and supports the Student Affairs leadership team in all initiatives related to student events, student/faculty programs, and student conduct.

Duties and Responsibilities: (include but are not limited to)

Essential Duties 

  • Coordinates and maintains the Dean of Students Faculty Mini Grant and Urban Excursions programs.  This includes working directly with students and faculty regarding applications and maintains program budgets.
  • Coordinates special events and meetings sponsored by the division, and works collaboratively with staff on special projects.
  • Advises students regarding basic student conduct processes and schedules student conduct appointments with the Assistant Dean of Students for more complex issues.
  • Collects paperwork and background check documents and writes a summary to be reviewed by the Assistant Dean of Students.  Assists students and external stakeholders in completing student conduct paperwork.
  • Inputs and monitors confidential student conduct information through web based Maxient student behavior tracking system.  Participates in trainings and reviews online materials to stay up to date on Maxient software updates.
  • Prepares letters, reports, records and other related forms from rough draft, corrected copy, ensuring correctness in format, spelling and grammar. Letters include verifications and clearances for student conduct background reviewing purposes, etc.
  • Verifies and inputs information into the university student database, Ellucian/Datatel Colleague.
  • Serves as a primary point of contact with students and other visitors to the Student Affairs office suite; screens and routes visitors as appropriate.
  • Maintains the Dean of Students and Assistant Dean of Student’s electronic calendar, schedules appointments, meetings, and updates to the calendar.
  • Schedules and supervises student employees for the Dean of Student office suite.
  • Serve as advocate to support the University and division’s strategic diversity initiatives to create a welcoming campus for all students.

Secondary Responsibilities:

  • This position acts as a liaison between the Student Affairs Division and all other offices and departments, students, faculty and staff and the community.
  • Coordinates Dean of Students Office budget and purchasing. Prepares expense reports, invoice transmittal forms and maintains and reconciles accurate and up-to-date budget records. Monitors the monthly budget review, investigates and corrects any discrepancies.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned or directed.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: (Education/Training and Experience Required)

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree and one year experience.
  • Experience participating in or supporting student scholar programming around the topic of civic engagement and/or other related service activities.
  • Cultural awareness and competency demonstrated by working with individuals of diverse identities such as socioeconomic level, sexual orientation, race, ethnicity and veterans including those with different levels of academic preparation, varying physical and learning abilities.
  • A demonstrated commitment to educating and cultivating global citizens. 
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office, publishing, website content management and social media software. 

Physical Requirements and/or Unusual Work Hours:

  • Usual office environment; routines sitting at a desk occasionally standing, bending, stooping or kneeling
  • Must be mobile between workstation and numerous campus buildings, must be able to climb stairs.
  • Position  may require some evening and weekend work depending on programming
