Widener University invites applications for a one-year Visiting Professor position in the School of Business Administration. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching a variety of undergraduate courses in general business, accounting, and finance. The appointment is for one academic year, with potential for renewal based on performance and school needs.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (including, but not limited to):

Essential duties:

  • Teach undergraduate four courses per semester in general business, accounting, and finance. Course assignments may include but are not limited to: Principles of Accounting, Financial Accounting, Managerial Accounting, Corporate Finance, and Introduction to Management.
  • Develop and deliver course materials, including syllabi, lectures, assignments, and exams.
  • Maintain office hours to provide academic support and advising to students.
  • Engage in school and university service, including participation in faculty meetings and committees.
  • Foster a positive learning environment that supports diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Participate in school assessment and curriculum development activities.
  • Stay current with developments in the field to ensure course content remains relevant and up-to-date.

Secondary responsibilities:

  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned or directed.
  • Participate in school-related recruiting and retention activities

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (education/training and experience required):

Required:

  • A Master's degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated ability to teach undergraduate courses in business, accounting, and finance.
  • Strong commitment to teaching excellence and student engagement.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Required:

  • A Ph.D., DBA, or other terminal degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Previous teaching experience at the school or university level at both undergraduate and graduate levels of instruction.
  • Professional experience in business, accounting, or finance.
  • Familiarity with online teaching platforms and technology-enhanced learning.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and students from diverse backgrounds.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND/OR UNUSUAL HOURS:

  • May be required to work some evenings and weekends.
