Widener University is currently seeking a part-time Program Coordinator for Student Organization Operations. This role reports to the Director of Student Organizations and will coordinate the exceptional delivery of student organization and involvement services, programs, and initiatives for 80+ student organizations in support of student belonging and retention. This is a part-time position and requires 20 hours per week during the fall and spring academic terms.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (including, but not limited to):
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Serve as a primary system administrator for the Involve by Modern Campus student engagement platform to review and approve 2,000+ events and facility reservation requests per semester—including frequent correspondence and follow up with student organization leaders to ensure proper event execution.
- Assist with the planning, scheduling, and facilitation of 10 – 15 leadership development workshops for recognized student organizations per year.
- Assist with the process to create and foster the growth of newly formed student organizations—including the review and approval of requests, training of new student organization leaders, and new student organization group advising.
- Edit and update the Student Organization Policy Manual and all related online resources—including the maintenance and upkeep of the student organization policy section in the official University Handbook.
- Aid in the planning, development, and implementation of all commuter student services and programs in support of the Commuter Student Association.
- Provide limited supervision and training for three Commuter Student Assistants.
- Coordinate and maintain a campus calendar with all student events and activities.
- Update and maintain the Student Organization Resource Center webpage.
- Co-advise the Senior Class Committee and assist in planning all senior programs, including portraits, 50th day celebration, and senior weekend programs.
- Collaborate with the department team members to plan, implement, and setup signature department-sponsored events including the Student Involvement Fairs, Student Leadership Awards, Organization Leadership Retreats, and other office or campus initiatives.
- Support, and provide coverage for, occasional late night and weekend campus programs related to student club and organization operations.
- Represent the Office of Student Engagement during high-yield institutional recruitment events—including Widener Days and Admitted Student Days.
- Work collaboratively with campus departments outside of the Division of Student Engagement & Transformation to develop and execute social, educational or cultural programs for students, faculty, and staff.
- Deliver excellent customer service to members of the Campus Community as they interact with the Office of Student Organization by carefully interpreting all student organization policies and procedures as needed.
- Perform other duties as needed and related to the functions of the Office of Student Engagement and the Division of Student Engagement & Transformation.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (education, training and experience required):
Required
- One (1+) administrative experience in a service-oriented, high volume, higher education environment, or any combination of experience, training or education, which provides the necessary skills and knowledge to successfully complete the work.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite applications and internet search software.
- Proficient in verbal and written communication, demonstrating strong grammar and vocabulary skills, applicable to emails, memos, and other business writing needs.
- Superior people skills with a demonstrated ability to interact effectively with students, support, and professional staff in a high-volume office.
- Ability to learn the technical nature of web-based software platforms.
- Must have personal vehicle to use on for or on behalf of Widener University.
Preferred Requirements
- Two (2+) years administrative experience in a busy in-person office, higher education environment strongly preferred
SCOPE AND COMPLEXITY OF POSITION
- Decisions are limited to daily work duties

- Responsible for coordinating or leading the work of a group of student employees as required. May be asked for input regarding student employee performance.

- Regular contact outside the department involves a routine exchange of information to a variety of constituents.
- Heavy walk-in traffic; high level of interaction with others in person; high level of interaction with others electronically or by telephone.
Physical Requirements and / or Unusual Work Hours:
- Lifting up to 25 lbs.
- Ability to drive university-owed vans to transport students to events
- Frequent walking, standing and climbing stairs
- Good manual dexterity
- Ability to be mobile between workstation and other buildings on campus
- Some travel is required as related to the programs in the Office of Student Engagement
