Duties and Responsibilities: (include but are not limited to)
Develops and implements workflows and practices to enhance the discovery and description of and access to the library’s growing collection of electronic resources.
Provides electronic resource troubleshooting, and works with vendors to resolve access issues.
Supervises staff who are responsible for original, copy cataloging, processing and maintenance of the collection.
Works with subject liaison librarians to assess the collection for collection development, weeding and accreditation needs.
Acquires and batch loads MARC catalog records.
Participates in university shared governance as a member of the faculty, including faculty meetings and committees and task forces as elected or appointed.
Serves as Liaison to the School of Engineering for research, information literacy instruction and consultation. Informs the School of library resources, programs and programs procedures and provides feedback to library faculty colleagues.
Performs collection maintenance activities with reference and subject area resources in all formats and in consultation with appropriate faculty.
Participates in library projects and initiatives.
Participates in and contributes to scholarly and professional development.
Keeps current with standards and technology developments in the field.
Shares in working at the reference desk.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
Ability to resolve issues, answer questions, and work independently with limited supervision.
Strong interpersonal communication skills required; ability to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing with varied constituent groups, evidence of ability to work collegially and collaboratively within and across organizations.
Must be able to deal with multiple tasks in a fast-paced work environment while paying attention to the details
Required to work well with others and to contribute to a positive work environment; must be willing to accept responsibility and work with limited supervision
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with colleagues and partners across campus in a dynamic, future-oriented environment
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: (Education/Training and Experience Required):
Master’s Degree in Library and/or Information Science from a program accredited by the American Library Association, or equivalent.
Minimum 2 years professional librarian experience with electronic resource management.
Extensive knowledge of OCLC.
Knowledge of RDA, MARC formats, LC classification and subject headings required., familiarity with MARCEdit, and Office 365.
Knowledge of technical and administrative developments in the organization of library materials. Knowledge of general librarianship.
Academic library experience.
Reference and instruction experience.
