Widener University is currently seeking a Simulation Technologist in the School of Nursing. This 12-month position provides day-to-day management and technical services for the Center of Simulation, including operation, maintenance, training, reliability, scheduling and performance of medical simulators, computers and audiovisual equipment.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (including, but not limited to):

Essential duties:

  • Troubleshoot and maintain simulation equipment including overseeing equipment servicing and maintenance, and related agreements.
  • Develop and facilitate equipment training for internal and external clients.
  • Advise, regarding design, application, operation, maintenance, training, reliability and performance of simulation equipment.
  • Assist as needed with IT needs. Must be able to think critically and problem-solve.
  • Identifies, analyzes, and repairs product failures, orders replacement parts as required.
  • Install and configure desktop hardware, software, and other electronic communications equipment in the Center for Simulation.
  • Complete role- playing applications, props placement, and moulage set-up before and after simulations to create a virtual healthcare setting.
  • Program software to model simulators' physiological responses to instructor specifications.
  • Assists with training faculty in the use of simulation equipment.
  • Serves as a resource for faculty utilizing simulation.
  • Conducts tours and simulation sessions for internal/external groups and/or individuals.
  • Provides recommendations for budget and purchase of equipment, supplies, and materials related to simulation.
  • Performs basic preventative maintenance and up-grades of simulation equipment
  • Attends meetings or continuing education to maintain currency with simulation technology and use.
  • Assists with data entry for various recordkeeping
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned or directed.
  • Maintains audiovisual equipment for video recording which includes setting up instructor accounts, creating assessment activities for recording and making them accessible for instructor review

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (education/training and experience required):

Required:

  • Degree in computer information/technology or an equivalent combination of relevant education and/or work experience.
  • Moving equipment including simulators and other materials weighing up to 100 pounds using proper body mechanics.
  • Work experience managing, operating and supporting multi-media technology.
  • Ability to be self-motivated and utilize excellent time management skills.
  • Professional verbal and written communications skills that facilitate collaboration among diverse groups such as internal staff, clients, students and training participants and vendors.
  • Experience in multiple platforms such as Internet browsers/server/network administration and TCP/IP protocols, blue tooth and other wireless communication configuration knowledge.

Preferred:

  • Simulation experience.
  • Certified Healthcare Simulation Operation Specialist or willing to apply for certification within 2 years of hire date.
