Widener University is currently seeking a Program Manager in the College of Arts & Sciences to focus on strategic data analysis and fiscal management. Reporting to the Dean, this role provides support to the College.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (including, but not limited to):

Essential duties:

  • Budget Strategy and Management
    • Oversee and manage the budget of the College of Arts & Sciences with regular reports prepared for the Dean.  Develop strategies to improve efficiencies and ensure that all expenditures are within the allocated budget by working closely with the Dean and Financial Planning and Strategic Analysis.  Support efforts to set budget goals and budget projections. Daily tasks include processing reimbursement requests with appropriate approvals and reconciling charges to the budget for the operating budget, grants, and development funds, and requesting overload or other payments, which requires collaboration with HR and Payroll.
  • Contracts
    • Work with Associate Deans and program staff to issue contracts for adjunct hiring and faculty overload payments. Issue contracts and develop schedules for students working for the Arts & Sciences, including any work stipulated for scholarships, fellowships, assistantships, and the like.
  • Data Analysis
    • Support the initiatives of the university and the College by collecting data (independently or from university sources) and analyzing that data to assist with the College of Arts & Sciences strategic initiatives.  These initiatives may be related to budget impacts, such as creating efficiencies in class scheduling, or related to student success, for example to recruit and retain students.  This work will be done in close collaboration with the Assistant Dean and the Dean.

Secondary responsibilities:

  • Event and Assessment Support. Support data collection and assessment of college events that involve the faculty and staff, and support the assessment of programs within the College of Arts & Sciences.
  • Other duties. Carry out other duties as assigned by the Dean. 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (education/training and experience required):

Required:

  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree.
  • Three (3) years of professional experience in different aspects of administration and business practices with a focus on financial or data analysis.
  • Master’s degree may be substituted for one (1) year of professional experience.
  • Experience working with statistical software and writing advanced formulas in Excel; ability to produce charts and pivot tables.
  • Ability to work independently with strong analytical skills and attention to detail.

Preferred:

  • Experience with dashboard software, such as PowerBI or Tableau.
  • Master’s degree
  • Managerial experience.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND/OR UNUSUAL HOURS: 

  • Ability to work in an office setting using a computer
