Widener University is currently seeking a Web Content Coordinator to join the web (Marketing) team in the Office of University Relations. Reporting to the Director of Web Strategy, this role is responsible for coordinating and supporting web content initiatives university-wide through expert writing, relationship management, and project management. This is a hybrid role based in Chester, PA, aligned with Widener's flexible work policy.

The ideal candidate is a skilled, detail-oriented web writer and editor with a strong understanding of web content best practices and content management systems including writing for search/AI discovery and accessibility.

The Web Content Coordinator is responsible for supporting web content initiatives across Widener’s digital ecosystem. This position serves as the frontline for managing everyday web requests ensuring web updates are timely, data-informed, and effective. As the go-to for understanding Widener’s Drupal CMS, they serve as a guide for other web editors as well as a mentor and supervisor for student web editors.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (including, but not limited to):

Essential Duties:

Web Content Management

  • Manage the full web edit request workflow, including triaging daily client submissions and refining intake processes to improve service and efficiency.
  • Develop, edit, and maintain high‑quality, accurate, and consistent content across the university’s digital ecosystem (Drupal websites and microsites, digital campus map, AI chatbot, Google accounts, and related platforms).
  • Ensure all published content aligns with university standards, brand guidelines, accessibility requirements, and best practices.

Client & Campus Partner Support

  • Provide guidance and technical support to campus web editors using the content management system.
  • Collaborate with partners across the university to translate key updates, initiatives, and events into clear, effective web content.
  • Serve as a responsive resource for stakeholders, helping them navigate digital communication needs.

Team Leadership

  • Supervise web student intern(s), including delegating assignments, reviewing work, and offering coaching to support their growth and success.

Secondary Responsibilities:

Web Strategy & Content Development

  • Contribute to new web content initiatives, including planning, drafting, and refining digital materials for emerging projects.
  • Support data‑informed decision‑making by using tools such as GA4, SEO platforms, AI chatbot analytics, and accessibility software to generate insights and reports.

AI Chatbot & Continuous Improvement

  • Monitor AI Chatbot interactions and implement ongoing content enhancements to improve accuracy, user experience, and alignment with university messaging.

Sensitive & Emergency Communications

  • Manage confidential, time‑sensitive, or emergency web updates as needed, including occasional evening or weekend support.

Institutional Contribution

  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned or directed to support departmental digital communication goals of University Relations and Widener University.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (education/training and experience required):

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, English, or related field.
  • 1-3 years of web content development and management experience, or an equivalent combination of experience and education may be considered.
  • Experience writing web content and editing within a website content management system (Drupal preferred).
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including superior interpersonal and relationship-building skills to support clients.
  • Knowledgeable of current and developing digital technologies and comfortable working with digital platforms.
  • Must be organized, flexible, and able to handle multiple tasks both independently and in collaboration with others.

Preferred:

  • Knowledge of basic photo editing and graphic design skills (such as Canva).
  • Knowledge of Google platforms including Google Analytics Looker Studio. reporting (formerly Data Studio), Google Business Listings, Google Search Console, etc.
  • Knowledge of basic HTML editing a plus; extensive coding or development skills not required.
  • Experience providing technical training and support.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND/OR UNUSUAL HOURS:

  • Occasional emergency web updates are required outside of typical working hours to support inclement weather and campus closure announcements.
  • As part of the greater University Advancement team, this position is required to participate in Homecoming and Commencement events.
  • Usual office environment; heavy walk-in traffic; high level of interaction with others in person, high level of interaction with others electronically or via telephone.
  • Occasionally standing, walking or climbing stairs; mobility between office and other offices/buildings on campus.
