The Department of Civil Engineering in the School of Engineering at Widener University invites applications for the position of adjunct professor of SUBJECT. Applicants must have experience teaching and be dedicated to working collaboratively in a department and university that values diversity.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (including, but not limited to):

Essential duties:

  • Deliver high-quality classroom and/or laboratory instruction in specific civil engineering sub-disciplines, such as CAD, Surveying, Transportation, Environmental Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Structural Analysis/Design, or Construction Management.

Secondary responsibilities:

  • Participate in department-level assessment activities for ABET accreditation or university program reviews as needed
  • Collaborate with the Department Chair and full-time faculty to ensure curriculum consistency across sections.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (education/training and experience required):

Required:

  • Master’s degree in Civil Engineering or a closely related field
  • BS degree in Civil Engineering with PE license will also be considered
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to work collaboratively within the department

Preferred:

  • Ph.D. in Civil Engineering or a related area
  • Extensive professional practice and leadership in their respective engineering fields

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND/OR UNUSUAL HOURS: 

  • May need to teach at nighttime typically 6pm-8:40pm
