Widener University’s College of Arts and Sciences Humanities Division invites applications for a one semester sabbatical replacement Teaching Fellow in French and Francophone Studies beginning in January 2023. The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to excellence in undergraduate teaching and a knowledge of current trends and research in their field(s). Teaching duties will include Elementary French II and Intermediate French II, both taught using the OER Français Interactif and the videochat platform TalkAbroad. In addition, the successful candidate will teach a 300-level course in French on a topic related to Francophone literature to students majoring and minoring in French or taking the course as an elective for general education. The ability for this third course to contribute to racial-ethnic studies and/or gender studies would be welcomed.
The successful candidate will demonstrate experience teaching French as a foreign language in higher education in the United States. An M.A. or PhD in French and/or Francophone Studies is required with a preferred specialization in one of the following fields: West or Central African Francophone literature; or Caribbean Francophone literature.

Required:
- A demonstrated commitment to undergraduate education
- Experience teaching French as a foreign language in the United States
- MA or PhD French and/or Francophone Studies
- Able to teach native or near native fluency in both French and English.
Preferred:
- Prior experience in teaching literature in French at the undergraduate level
- Extensive time living/working in West/Central Francophone Africa and/or the Francophone Caribbean.
