Widener University is seeking an Associate Director for Undergraduate Student Services in the School of Business Administration. Reporting to the Associate Dean of Undergraduate Programs, this position will play a pivotal role in supporting student success by coordinating course scheduling, processing of academic actions, student events, and general student advising.  In addition, the Associate Director will staff School of Business Administration meetings related to student success.

The Associate Director of Undergraduate Student Services in the School of Business Administration provides leadership and administrative direction for programs and services that support student success, from recruitment through graduation. This role involves overseeing academic advising, student transition programs, course registration, and managing staff, budgets, and resources to ensure student retention and program goals are met. They act as a liaison between students, faculty, and other university departments, and are responsible for developing strategic plans and policies to enhance the undergraduate business student experience.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (including, but not limited to):

Essential Duties:                                                                                         

Academic & Student Success Leadership

  • Partner with Associate Deans and program directors to ensure course offerings align with student needs and retention goals.
  • Review and process transfer credits, course substitutions, scholarships, and other academic actions in collaboration with faculty advisors and the Registrar.
  • Ensure accurate graduation lists each semester by reviewing petitions and coordinating faculty approvals.
  • Provide direct advising to students, ensuring timely degree completion and academic progress.
  • Generate reports, monitor student alerts and referrals, and develop recovery plans that promote academic continuity.
  • Teach one three-credit course each semester, delivered primarily in person, with the possibility of online or hybrid formats.

Event & Program Coordination

  • Lead planning for orientations (Pride Days), admissions events (Widener Days, Admitted Student Days), commencement activities, career fairs, honors events, and high-impact practice fairs.
  • Coordinate registration for incoming first-year and transfer students and oversee Pride 1 activities.
  • Manage award selection processes for SBA banquets and honors.
  • Partner with faculty, Resident Assistants, and Student Living to deliver programming for SBA’s LLC.

Collaboration & Liaison Roles

  • Serve as School of Business Administration liaison to Career Design and Development for co-ops, internships, and career fairs.
  • Support prospective student outreach, daily tours, admitted student yield initiatives, and special conferences (FBLA, Empowering Female Leaders).
  • Assist faculty with student issues, academic integrity concerns, and advising needs.
  • Represent SBA on university committees (Commencement, Retention Council, CAAD, LLC, NISS, RNL Strategic Enrollment Planning, Middle States, etc.).

Administrative & Supervisory Duties

  • Supervise Advisors and Graduate Assistants.
  • Oversee student-facing communications, including event emails and building monitor content.
  • Collaborate with faculty and staff to maintain accurate catalogs, handbooks, and websites; manage Curriculog proposals and Colleague updates.
  • Prepare agendas, gather reports, and provide logistical support for student-related meetings.
  • Provide secondary support for AACSB accreditation activities, including site visit planning and report preparation.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (education/training and experience required):

Required:

  • Master’s degree in Education, Counseling, Student Affairs, Business Administration or a related field.
  • Minimum two years in academic advising or student services.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Word and Excel with ability to learn new systems quickly.
  • Strong written and verbal abilities with proven organizational expertise.
  • Demonstrated dedication to advancing diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging initiatives.

Preferred:

  • Prior work in a college or school of business administration.
  • Familiarity with AACSB accreditation processes and standards.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND/OR UNUSUAL HOURS:

  • May require occasional evenings and weekends work hours.
  • Standard office environment with event-related activity support.
